Our Mission Statement

Peace Lutheran Preschool is a half-day program designed to meet the early education needs of young children in the Palm Bay/Melbourne area. We serve Lutheran and non-Lutheran families in the spiritual and educational growth of their children, ages 20 months to 5 years. We emphasize preparation for kindergarten with low student-teacher ratios, large classrooms, and a hands-on experience in a Christian family atmosphere.

History

Teacher and studentSince September 1983 Peace Lutheran Preschool has provided weekday Christian training and age appropriate Early Childhood Education for children 20-months through 5 years of age. Peace Lutheran Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs or other school administered programs. We are, however, a Christian School and as such have a focus on the teachings of the Bible and Christ Jesus.

The staff is all degreed or trained in Early Childhood Education, and provides for the children the opportunity to receive Christian training as well as a "Learning by Doing" atmosphere for all areas of their early education, development and school-readiness. In April 2004 we were presented with both the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation and a Gold Seal of Excellence Certification. We will continue to strive to meet the criteria for both organizations in our daily interactions with the children who are entrusted to us.

In August 2005 we began our first year as a provider for the Florida Voluntary Universal Pre-K Program, providing high quality Pre-K experiences for our four-year old students. In August 2006 we expanded the two-year old class to include 20 month olds. In June 2008 we added a Summer Play Day at Peace for children ages 20 months to ten years, to see if our families would like a summer program. This has proven to be an exciting addition to the experiences we offer our students and their families. We will continue to look for new ways to improve our program in an effort to meet the needs of the families we serve.
